Global LEAD Loves
From couture coffee to grueling ultramarathons, outdoor concerts to cutting-edge photography, the Global LEAD team’s interests are as diverse as the locations we go to. Get to know us a little better by exploring the Global LEAD Loves…..
Restaurants and Coffee Shops
Dr. Bombay’s: Surrounded by books and antique furniture, this is the perfect place for afternoon tea, reading a great book or beginning your own memoir.
Café Intermezzo: As you sip an espresso and enjoy a slice of chocolate cake, you’ll be transported to the cozy comfort of a European coffee shop. Great place to spend a leisurely weekend morning.
Antico Pizza Napoletana: You have to love a place who lists their hours as “11:30am until out of dough.” Bubbly thin crust topped with San Marzano tomatoes, sopressata, sweet red pepper, broccoli rabe. With a rousing soccer game in the background and shouts in Italian, you might as well be in Naples.
The Porter: Phenomenal food, staff and the vinegar popcorn is a must!
The Lodge: When you visit the Lodge Cafe, located inside Peachtree Presbyterian Church, you will find a place to rest and rejuvenate in a relaxed, fun environment. You’ll feel like you are sitting in your own living room, but there are plenty of tables and chairs for those who need a place to work or study, with (of course) free WiFi.
Caribou Coffee: Life is short. Stay awake for it.
Le Petite Marche: When you walk in you feel like you are in your grandmother’s sun room. It’s quaint, welcoming, and the food is amazing! This is also a perfect place to pick up local jams, soaps and other treats.
Only in Atlanta
Variety Playhouse: The best concert venue in Atlanta–small enough to always feel close to the band, large enough to bring in people you want to see.
Jazz Night at the High Museum of Art: Spend your Friday listening to great jazz and touring the museum.
Mingei World Arts: Looking for a unique gift with an exotic flair? Look no further than Mingei. As direct importers from a plethora of locations, mainly in Asia, you are sure to find a gift with personality.
The Bert Show: We don’t mind early mornings meetings or getting stuck
in Buckhead traffic because it gives us more time to laugh, cry and listen to The Bert Show. Real. Funny. On Q100.
@AJC: If you like your news presented with a funny twist, clever pun or some attempt to make you smile… then follow @AJC on Twitter. Atlanta’s best source for breaking news, sports, weather and entertainment.
Things that We Wouldn’t Want to Live Without
Braveheart: One of the best movie scenes ever created: “They may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!”
Outdoor Concerts: Being outside and listening to great music is the perfect reminder that life is good.
Life Tuner: The most hip and accessible money management site on the interwebs!
Taylor Tailgates: What do you get when you combine college football, photography, food and tailgating? An awesome website!
Hispstamic Photography App for iPhone: Personalize your pictures instantly with a variety of lens, flash, and film effects. Or use it like a photo booth in your back pocket. Either way, you’ll be hooked.
Marathons: Commit to discipline and pushing yourself by getting your run on.
Air B’n'B: Stay in a tugboat in San Francisco, tree house in Seattle or just share a flat with a stranger for a night in NYC. Better than couchsurfing and more interesting than a hotel, it’s worth checking out for your next adventure.
Zen Habits: Life is busy – take time to relax and recharge. Find great ways to do just that here.
College Football: The fall brings three important things: cooler weather, Global LEAD campus visits and COLLEGE FOOTBALL! Whether you’re a fan of the SEC, Big 12, Pac-10, or Big 10… football means tailgates with friends, the smells of hamburgers, brats and ribs, and over-the-top displays of cheering and jeering. We wait, plan and think all week about Saturday. Why? Because Saturdays during the fall means college football. And memories of the best 3rd quarter in college football (for one of us.)
Tempur-pedic travel pillow: Long flights are made infinitely more comfortable when you pack this must-have travel accessory:
Places
Barcelona, Spain: The best city in España hands-down. Take in an incredible view of the city and ocean from Parc Güell. Indulge in fresh fare and authentic tapas at Mercat de La Boqueria on Las Ramblas. Explore the Barri Gotic and see Picasso’s work from start to finish at the Museo Picasso. That’s just day 1.
Atlantis Bookshop: One of our favorite bookstores in the world – guess the rooftop reading deck overlooking the blue domed churches of Santorini helps a bit.
Decatur, GA: This charming, quirky neighborhood is located just six miles east of downtown Atlanta. Friendly locals, walkable downtown and located right on the MARTA line, this community is home to more than 50 boutiques & shops, 80 restaurants & cafes and 3 Global LEADers. Don’t miss the Arts Festival in May, the Beach Party in June, the Book Festival in September and the Great Decatur Craft Beer Festival in October!
