The Cape Town experience is the perfect opportunity to learn from the unique culture and history of South Africa, participate in once-in-a-lifetime adventures and explore one of the world’s most exciting cities.  In keeping with the innovative and dynamic mission of Global LEAD, you invest in the youth of an underserved township through our afterschool programs, break through your personal comfort zone and connect with local leaders who have valuable stories to share.

Cape Town, Africa’s most cosmopolitan city, sparkles with unique opportunities that you will enjoy during your five-week African adventure.  From the natural beauty of Table Mountain to the international flair of the VA Waterfront and hidden gems such as the Old Biscuit Mill culinary market, you are exposed to an incredibly diverse experience.

The leadership and service learning courses offered, for six hours of upper-level elective credit, emphasize the culture and natural surroundings of Cape Town. Both courses use an experiential learning philosophy to augment classroom instruction with the rich cultural surroundings.  You actively participate in field trips and activities outside the classroom including climbing to the top of Table Mountain and visiting African penguins on Boulders Beach.  Additionally, Global LEAD’s personal development curriculum is designed to engage you wherever you are in life, expose you to new ideas and life-changing experiences and equip you with the tools to make a difference in your community and the world.
