Program Overview

 

Global LEAD is an innovative, purpose-driven organization, focused on leading transformative experiences at home and abroad.  Rather than abiding by the status quo, we believe that students should be able to combine the benefits of studying abroad,  international service trips and backpacking adventures into a holistic experience that truly changes their lives.  Through our academic partnership with the University of Georgia, we create, organize and lead adventures across three continents where we challenge participants to stretch beyond their comfort zone, engage in dialogue with cutting-edge leaders, explore education outside the classroom, experience the adrenaline rush of extreme adventures and serve local communities.

 

Global LEAD’s top priority on all experiences is always health and safety. We have a proactive and preventative philosophy as well as a robust emergency action plan, which was created from industry best practices and personal experiences.  We have been leading experiences abroad since 2009 and our extensive personal travel experience through more than 50 countries creates an expert staff, both on the ground and at home.

 

Global LEAD is much more than a 5-week experience abroad.  The values-driven LEAD Lifestyle is designed to last a lifetime as we continue to invest in young leaders with US-based programs called LEAD Local events.  Once your student embarks on a Global LEAD experience, they are always a part of our Family (our affectionate term for alumni). Global LEAD continually emphasizes the importance of tangible application and bringing the lessons back to your hometown including hosting service events on campus, offering leadership opportunities and organizing Family reunions. Whether students decide to work in corporate America or South America, Global LEAD’s personal development curriculum is designed to engage students wherever they are in life, expose them to new ideas and life-changing experiences and equip them with tools to make a difference in their community and the world.
